Capricorn left on globe
17mm x 18mm, 3.28g
RIC II, 7 (C)
Ex Harlan Berk

Notes from Berk tag: "Rare without P P in reverse legend. Titus must have accepted the title Pater Patriae quite soon after the beginning of his ninth tribunician year on 1 July 79 AD. Cohen 280 cites this coin 'with or without P P' as being in the Paris collection, but in fact Paris lacks the denarius of this type without P P, though it possesses the corresponding aureus (Paris-3). Cohen must have seen the denarius without P P in another collection. We had another specimen in our Catalogue 125, 2002, 374; none in Reka Devnia hoard."

Thus, the thunderbolt on throne for Jupiter, the corn-ears on throne for Ceres, the shield on throne (used by Domitian) for Minerva, the dolphin and anchor may represent Neptune and the dolphin and tripod for Apollo. The wreath on curule chair is uncertain".
