Note: This example is similar to Rome #57 for legend and devices, but the
font style for the letters H, L and S on the obverse and the Q, T and S on
the reverse do not appear to be of the Rome mint style. The serifs are
most like the "unknown" and "branch" mint types in
Muona's study. Also, there is a hyphen in the obverse legend, which is not
mentioned in RIC and I cannot find any other examples elsewhere.

Note from Jyrki Muona on July 5, 2005: "This is one of the coins RIC calls "Antioch 1" and I unknown. This early Eastern mint
can hardly be Antioch, as the style is so clearly different from the later Antioch issues, which on the other hand are
indistinguishable from the tetradrakhms and surely come from Antioch. The person to show this in print for the first time is
the Hungarian numismatist Ferenc Ovari, who pointed out that the metal composition of these two "Antioch" types are
different."

Ex CNG, Electronic Auction 121, Lot 243, September 2005
Note: Although omitted from RIC, the AVG reverse is known from two examples in the Tulln hoard.
Note about the reverse legend - to me, it appears as though the celator had to recut the second A in AEQVITAS after initially
misspelling it AEQVITVS. I base this on the shape and height of the line and what appears to be a serif at the top of it, along
with the fact it lines up perfectly with the radius of the legend curve and position. A few professional numismatists have
written to me to state they believe it is either a flow line or a die break. A neat piece either way.

Note: This piece seems unusual in hand. The flan is quite flat and there are a couple of light file marks on the edge in two spots. One of
the spots on the edge is at 12-o'clock and chipped the flan in the margin on the obverse, but the core appears to be silver, so this is
not likely a fourree. The devices are somewhat mushy and there are no apparent flow lines in the fields, suggesting possibly a cast piece,
however, it could also be a combination of wear and overcleaning. The thickness of the letters in the legends are also somewhat odd, but
could be the result of an imbalanced strike. The style is Antiocheni, but is
only listed in RIC with left facing bust type.
