Cherson-Eleutheria

For a period of 250 years, Cherson was a dependency of the Kingdom of Bosporus.  When citizens of Cherson helped Romans with their struggle against Bosporus, the emperor granted Cherson status of an independent city (Eleutheria - civitas libera). In reality, this was a quasi-autonomy, the city became a dependency of Rome.
