This part of the collection contains coins showing the fortified gates or entrances to cities.  Sometimes an entire city is shown.  Most of these pieces will be from Roman provinces.

The actual city gate in Diocaesarea (modern day Uzuncaburç, Turkey), still standing today, as depicted on the coin.  Although the statues shown on the following coin are gone, the niches and shelves on which they stood still exist.  The gate also still has the name of ancient Diocaesarea inscribed in it.
